What We Do

Automotive

AAA is the largest, most reliable provider of emergency road service in the world. AAA Northern California first began offering roadside service in 1924. Each year, AAA Emergency Road Service responds to more than 28 million distress calls from Members nationally. In 2007 we responded to more than 2.3 million calls within Northern California, 235,000 calls in Nevada, and 88,000 in Utah. Our Members report a 96% satisfaction rate with our Emergency Road Service.

The top three reasons people call AAA are to get a tow for a broken-down vehicle; to get a jumpstart or battery replacement service; and because they are locked out of their vehicles.

The AAA-Approved Auto Repair Program has evaluated and approved more than 500 auto repair facilities in Northern California, Utah and Nevada. AAA Members using the facilities report a 98% satisfaction rate. For locations near you, call the AAA Approved Auto Repair referral hotline at (800) 645-4288.

Insurance

AAA is one of the top five insurance providers in the state of California. We have nearly 1 million auto insurance policyholders and insure approximately 2.1 million cars in California. Our insurance company, the California State Automobile Association Inter Insurance Bureau, began offering auto insurance in 1914. One out of every five cars on Northern California roads is insured by AAA.

Homeowners insurance was added in 1974. We are California's fourth-largest insurer of residential property. In addition to auto and homeowners, we also offer motorcycle, watercraft, motorhome, renters, rental property, flood, umbrella, travel and life insurance to customers in approximately 20 states, including Nevada and Utah.

Travel

AAA Travel is the nation's largest leisure travel agency, offering booking for unique vacation packages, cruises, flights, hotels and car rentals around the world.

AAA Members and their travel companions account for 38 percent of all spending on U.S. lodging stays annually, or nearly 1 million hotel rooms each day.

Every year, AAA tourism editors evaluate and assign ratings of 1 to 5 diamonds for nearly 32,000 lodgings in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. These diamond ratings are listed in the annual TourBook® guides.

There are nearly 60 AAA Travel locations in Northern California, 13 in Nevada and seven in Utah. AAA Travel services can also be accessed online at www.aaa.com or via our toll free number, (888) 937-5523.
