American Business Awards recognizes CSAA's Greenlight Initiative
The Greenlight Initiative has garnered CSAA yet another award for its environmental leadership. The program received a "Stevie" trophy from the American Business Awards for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program at a ceremony in New York City on June 11.
The Stevies are considered the Oscars of the business world, honoring both individuals and small to large companies in everything from IT to HR to sales. In order to win, AAA beat out many larger, national companies including Avis Rental Cars, Adobe Systems and Shell Oil.
"This is a great honor for CSAA," said CSAA president Paula Downey. "It's a wonderful reflection on our vision and values, and on the power of listening to our members."
The award recognized 2006 Greenlight achievements including:
the launch of the Greenlight Initiative Web site (www.aaa.com/greenlight), the corporate fleet switchover to hybrids, the first Greenlight Initiative Rally, and AAA's second Hybrid Awareness Month in November.
The month-long awareness campaign featured a study on hybrids conducted by UC Davis and sponsored by AAA, a class to help hybrid owners get the most out of their vehicles, and a strong focus on the Greenlight Initiative at the San Francisco International Auto Show, including six alternative-fuel vehicles on display.
